Q1: Creighton Brown

Using details from the first few chapters, characterize Creighton Brown.

57 comments:

  1. Creighton Brown is supposed to be a gentleman but doesnt act like it. He is rude and thinks he is better than everyone else because his family has money. He is irresponsible since he gambles his with his mothers dwindling money, and is ungrateful with the quality education his mother is trying to give him. I dont theink Creighton Brown is a very nice person.

  2. Creighton Brown I would consider to be a normal teenager besides playing cards with men in taverns and gets kidnapped because hi mom wants him to become more disciplined, and he thinks he is superior to everyone in the colonies because he is from England.

  3. Creighton Brown is an English lad;stubborn, sneaky kid, who has grown up thinking that death is not cruelity, it is a more form of entertainment. Creighton is stubborn and sneaky because he doesn't like to listen to his mom and he sneaks into and out of the house at night; while his mother is trying to teach him a lesson by locking the doors and windows. Even though, Creighton's family doesn't have a lot of money, Creighton still plays card games with his schoolmates. A popular game he plays obsessively is called, "Hangman." Creighton is in for it one night when he is sneaking in late at night, trying to get into his house.

  4. Creighton Brown is a difficult child. He doesn't like to follow the rules. He sneaks out of his house at night. He likes to play games of chance even when he doesn't have any money. He is suppose to be learning to behave like a gentleman. His mother hopes that sending him to live with his uncle will help Creighton. Brenner C.

  5. From the first few chapters in The Year of the Hangman I would say that Creighton Brown is conceited and arrogant. Creighton thinks that he is so much better that everyone else. He can't even stand to act like a slave for a while to save his life.

  6. To me, Creighton acts as if he is to good to follow the rules. He doesn't really follow his mom's, or anyones, rules. He also acts as if he has a reputation to keep considering he didn't want his uncle to know that his mom had sent him there, not it being his choice.

  7. I think Creighton Brown is kinda spoiled, doesn't know when to stop, he knows very little of what is beyond where he lives, and he is out of control.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Creighton Brown seems to be a bit pompous and overtly confident to the point that he's cocky about the money he needs to win back. He thinks that it is his birthright to have the world at his fingertips. Also he thinks he can throw everything away and yet it will still be there when he decides he MAYBE wants whatever it is. Creighton is also a careless, reckless, lout who has no sense of responsibility.

  9. Creighton seems to me a little self centered and wild. He doesn't care what others think, which can be good but not when you have no respect for anyone else like Creighton. He lives on the wild side by gambling, sneaking around after dark, and skipping school. I also think Creighton will do anything to stay in the "cool" crowd. Even if it means making bad decisions.

  10. To me Creighton is a very self centered and rude and he ditches class to drink and play cards, i think also that he has no respect and his mother did the right thing sending him away and that Creighton should start learning to be a gentleman before he gets killed for being rude and gambling

  11. Creighton is a spoiled, rotton kid who spends his time with gamblers whom he calls his role models. He sneaks out at night and spends all his allowance gambling with these role models. He is very wild and spends too much time with the wrong people.

  12. Creighton Brown isn't a very normal teenager. He is supposed to be a gentleman and kind but he gets into all kinds of troble like gambling with men at taverns and staying out late and sneaking around.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think that Creighton is a little bit of a brat,he is spoiled rotten and never, ever gets in trouble. He is also a very good planner, he can articulate a situation to his advantage.

  14. I think that Creighton Brown is a little to used to 1.) being out late and worrying his mother 2.) sneaking out at night 3.) gambling with his families money that his mom works very hard for, and pays for his education with. And early in the book one of the guys he gambled with said he really doesn't win very often. Creighton needs to learn self-respect, and respect and manner for others feelings and posessions.

  15. Creighton is an irresponsible, self centered, teenage boy, who gambels, sneaks out, skipps class and gets in lots of trouble. Creightons' mother thinks sending him off to live with his uncle, will build his responsibilty and give him a little since of what a real gentlemen is like.

  16. Creighton Brown is an English born gentlemen who can be a bit stubborn. His mother doesn't put up with him very well since he likes to sneak out, so she locks him in the house at times. He likes to gamble a lot and gets himself into debt a lot. Creighton grows up watching death as entertainment and he has no manners for people in the war.

  17. Creighton Brown is a teenage boy, who has a lot going on in his life since his father died. He doesn't really like to follow the rules, and he sneeks out the house, plays cards, and skips class during school.

  18. Creighton Brown is an unstable, irresponsible, stubborn, English born teenager who claims to be a gentleman. He watches death as if it were some kind of game. He worries his mother quite often due to constant sneaking out, skipping class, and gambling. Creighton needs to improve his overall manners towards everyone and learn some dicipline.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Creighton Brown is a 14 year old boy who is gets himself in to a lot of bad situations. I think this happens to him because of the death of his father. It's affecting him even if he doesn't know it. When he thinks he does something right or does something good, there is always a bad outcome for him. He just needs to think about what he is about to do instead of thinking he's all that and doing it without thinking and making mistakes.

  20. In my opinion, the best way to describe Creighton Brown is rowdy, disobedient, mischievous, and spoiled. He is often getting into trouble. He is an addictive gambler and bets more than he can support.

  21. Creighton Brown is an English teen-age boy. Fairly rebellious towards his mother since his father died, by hanging out in the taverns; gambling all of his money and leaving himself in a small debt. He is one that is easily upset or aggrivated for example when he thought that he hand a winning hand during a card game and when the players showed their cards and he lost. He was upset in a sense for being too arrogant.

    ReplyDelete
  22. He is probably older than us, but he is fancy and gentleman like. But he also is sort of childish at the same time. He plays cards, and is really bad at it. He sneeks out his house ever after his mom started locking all the doors and windows buy breaking in. He doesn't like to work either and he doesn't pay attetion much to Ben Franklin. He also lied to Colonel Gower about him having the idea of going to America when his mom realy sent him

    ReplyDelete
  23. Creighton Brown is a troublemaking teenager who is suppost to be a gentleman. Creighton sneaks out late to play cards with his friends in taverns, he bets money that he doesn't have and he often loses the money.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Creighton Brown is a teenage boy who lives in London and is supposed to be a gentleman but doesn't act very much like one. He gambles, sneaks out at night, and is very disrespectful to his mother and anybody else that he chooses to. His mom thinks that sending him to her brother will help him become more responsible and more like his father was.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Creighton Brown is a undiciplined, prodigal child who never listens to his mother. He probably needs to be locked in a jail cell but, his missing father is partially responsible for his behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Creighton Brown is a clumsy teenage boy. He has a lack of focus almost all the time and he hangs out with older men playing cards at night when he is supposed to be home sleeping or doing homework. He shows up to school less than often and when he does, he hardly pays any attention. I think he is trying to live up to something that he is not, a gentleman. The way he loses his temper easily and gets mad at people for beating him in games... well that is just going a little overboard.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Creighton Brown is a stubborn teenage boy. He is an English boy, but doesn't act like one. He sneaks out at night, disrespects his mother, and gambles with his families money, which his mother works very hard for. He loses his temper very often and is spoiled, which he would not be.

    ReplyDelete
  28. i think that Creighton as a teenage boy who like most common teens never follows the rules. he is a gentlemen whose father was sent to the war in the colonies. Creighton has been kicked out of 3 schools and been sent to a less prestigious school that he doesn't like. he loves betting and not doing what his mom tells him too.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Creighton Brown is teenager that doesn't act like the gentleman that he was taught to be. He sneaks out to play cards and gambles on money that is more than what his family owns. Creighton also lied to many people in America, like Colonel Gower and Peter by saying that it was his choice to leave his home and being an indentured servant.

  30. Creighton Brown is a teenage boy who is very stubborn. He sneaks out to gamble and play card games. He thinks he knows everything and that he is right all of the time. When really, he isn't! He gets himself into a lot of trouble. He bets on money that his mom works hard for. He's not very responsible with certain things like money. He lies about who he is and he can be rude to people who he doesn't like.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Creighton Brown is a very mischievous child, he would "run wild" and do many thing such as steal fruit, setting off fireworks, and digging up someones yard in search of treasure. His mother wanted him not to have to work and she wanted him to go to school to prepare to be gentleman, which meant alot of studing and he didn't want to do that. Which is where alot of his troubles came in at school, when he had to study, because he didn't like it, he didn't do it making him fall behind. This is how i would describe Creighton Brown using the info from the book The Year Of The Hangman.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Creighton Brown is just insecure. He has found out that his mother really dosent care for him. He is rude, exausting, cruel, and irresponsible. He is also a gentleman, or wants to be respected as one.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ceighton Brown is a teen who is spoiled and untrustworthy. His family in Bristol, England, has plenty of money and can afford to send him to wealthy schools. But his mischevious ways keep getting him kicked out. It seems to me he never really got over his father's death and takes it out on the people he should respect. He is rude and tries to be something he is not. Especially how it pains him not to act like a gentleman.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I would characterize Creighton Brown as dishonest, arrogant, untrustworthy, selfish, and spoiled. He likely reached his current state of being by his mother constantly giving him whatever he wanted, and not showing him any actual affection. He is constantly rude to everyone probably because he was raised being told that he was to become a "gentleman" and he considers himself superior to the people who have to work for a living. At the time, i think he has very few good qualities seeing that he is a wimpy little brat who's mean to almost everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Creighton Brown, a boy who considers himself a gentle man, who is the complete opposite. Creighton is a spoiled, self centered, and spoiled Brit, who doesn't know the boundaries. His mom gives him everything he wants, showing that he can DO what he wants and nothing can stop him. But I think he just needs someone to set the rules, to show some kindness, and he would probably prosper.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Creighton Brown is a spoiled child. He thinks he can get away with anything but he really can't. He doesn't know when to stop.. like when he is gambling. He is also is very stubborn. He lies to his Uncle. He also lies to Peter telling him he was an indentured servant. He thinks of himself as a 'gentleman' but he isn't one.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Creighton Brown is a irresponsible young man who lives in England. He spends his time plang cards at the tavern and at the coffe house instead of going to school. He is supposed to become a gentlemen, but by the way he acts that is not a likely part of his future. Proper gentlemen are men with proper education which meant lots of school and Creighton would have none of that. What he did lke about being a gentlemen is they didn't work for a living. Since he absolutely doesn't like going ot school he plays bragger at the tavern, he is not very successful and is always in debt from previous games but keeps on playing. Creighton needs to goet his act together before he gets thrown out of his 3rd academy for unacceptable behavior such as breaking a man's cane or giving people bloody noses.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Creighton Brown is a self centered teenager. He is rude and back talks to everyone he talks to even though he is supposed to be a gentleman. He is also very ungrateful for what he has such as his good education, good amounts of money, and having people do all the work for him. Creighton also lies to make himself look better and is a gambler(with his mom's money).

    ReplyDelete
  39. I would characterize Creighton Brown as a roudy and dishonest kid. One reason for that is he always sneeks out at night. Also his mother is having a hard time taking care of him so she sends him to go live with his uncle in the colonies.

    ReplyDelete
  40. creightion brown is a headstrong teenager who doesnt appreciate his mother. he looks at death as a game and considers himself a "gentleman" because he spent him whole life being told so. he seems very irresponisble. when he was little he always played hangman with his friends. he learned a lot of things in coffeehouses or taverns where he would go often. he isnt a very good student. he usually sleeps in or skips classes and seldom studys. all in all, creighton brown seems ungrateful and rude.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Creighton Brown is a very rude teenager living the life of an undisciplined gentleman in Bristol, England. This young gentalmen men is very arrogant, selfish, and extremely angry. Because of his mother giving him anything he ever wanted while his dad was of fighting in the colonies he was spoiled rotten and he never learned manners. When his father Harry Brown died Creighton was traumatized because his father was his role model. I think his anger and lack of manners come from his sorrow from his fathers death, but I don't think his mother realized that when she was writing the letter to her brother in the colonies. I defiantly think Creighton is misunderstood, but still needs to grow out of his immature ways.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Creighton Brown, is a self centered, arrogant, irresponsible, English teenage boy who needs a reality check. He thinks he is a gentleman, and shouldn't have to show any manners, or respect towards people. His gambling habits, and skipping of school land him in a position where he has to step up, and act as a servant to save his life but even that is a hard task for this rude boy.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Creighton Brown is a spoiled teenage boy who calls himself a gentlemen but does not act like one. He sneaks out late at night to gamble and drink, skips class, and is rude to just about everyone. When he is punished for his actions by being sent to the colonies he has a bad attitude about it. He is rude to people he meets and blames them for what has happened to him.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Creighton Brown is more of a outlandish teen than a gentlemen. His problems with gambling, drinking, and skipping school, would have most likely led to him being either shot or in debtors prison if not for being kidnapped.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Creighton Brown is like a mad dog. He doesn't like to follow rules and he doesn't have his own. He refuses being controlled by authority and has been kicked of 2 schools. He skips classes to drink and gamble as much as he can before he is shipped off to Carolina, and then Florida by his mother's own doing

    ReplyDelete
  46. Creighton Brown is a spoiled brat teenager. He always drinks and skips classes. He is very immature, rebellious, and a jerk. He always gambles and wastes his money. He always blames other people as well.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think Creighton can't control his temper and should think before he speeks. Also, he thinks he is a gentlemen but he is really not he doesn't have the manors. He should of never gone out drinking and playing cards and been studying or learning his manors.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Creighton Brown is a gentleman, but because of his drinking and gambling you wouldn't be able to tell. He is very rude to his mother and a lot of other people. I think the reason he treats people like this is because his father died in the war.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Creighton Brown is a headstrong teenage boy. He thinks that he’s a gentleman but only because that’s what he’s been told all his life. He drinks, gambles more than he’s worth, and goes against all authority. I think that sending him to his uncle will teach him to not be so self-centered.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Creighton Brown is a guy who is full of himself. His mother trys to get him a good education but he skips school. He thinks he is all that and a bag of chips but the only reason anyones cares about him is because his family has money, even though throws his moms money away by gambling. He is only a teenager and he drinks at bars a lot and gets drunk. He doesen't listen to rules. I dont think sending him to his uncle will help. He needs to join the army. That MIGHT help.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Creighton Brown is a rich kid. Who is self centered and plays cards. He also skips school. his mom is sick ant tired of his attitude so she ships him off with is uncle and lives in America.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Creighton Brown is a supposed Englishman that has no manners and thinks that he is better than everyone else. He is from a "good family" he plays games of chance & bets money that he does not have.

  53. Creighton is a cocky irresponsible young man. He cares about himself over others and thinks of himself better than others. Though he's not really used to working and hates the idea of it, working distracts him from his troubles in life; such as being in debt from making unwise bets and gambling way too much.

    ReplyDelete
  54. In my opinion Creighton is rude and he is mean and he has no self control. He gambles when he shouldn't spending all his money then he goes home and steals from his mother. I think it is good that he got abducted because it will let him see a different outlook in life and turn him into a better person who sees how others feel and doesn't think he is the center of the universe.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Creighton is just a rude, mean, and spoiled British Teenager. He is supposed to be a gentlemen, but is the complete opposite of one. He drinks and gambles, and isn't very nice to anyone at all. I think he doesn't know any manners because his father was never around to teach him some.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I did a play on year of the hangman and i did a analasis of creighton and i know that he is spoiled, selfish, and stubborn. He does improve later in the book, though.
